Jay is the owner and staff engineer at The Jam Room since 1988. He has recorded 100s of classic underground bands including Death Threat, Initial State, Damad, Kylesa, Baroness, In/Humanity, Antischism, The Queers, Danielle Howle, Stretch Armstrong and Throttlerod. Before owning the studio, Jay graduated from USC in 1982 with a BA in Media Arts and then worked for several local sound companies until becoming a studio owner fulltime in 1991.
Jay continues to engineer demos and full length records as well as teaching audio classes at Midlands Audio Institute. Jay also is an active gear reviewer online and for EQ Magazine.
