Here's the pics from my site, and here's a link to the John Sayers Recording Studio Design Forum where I posted a thread about the building process.

I designed the room myself, but had an architect draw the plans for permits and to solve a few structural issues. Then the great contractor I hired, let me work along side him doing the actual construction. It worked great... he would show me how to frame with the nail gun, and I would explain what we needed to do to make the soundproofing work. Lots of work, but fun.

Thanks Warren,

I'm very happy with it.

900 feet! That's a mighty big garage! You should be able to build a big ol' room in there!

Yeah, I looked at those mini-splits for a bit for mine, but for the 3 zones, the cost was significantly more than doing a traditional set up, and then I could also have a fresh air intake.

I wasn't able to do huge ducts as I didn't have the space in the attic, but it ended up being pretty dang quiet anyway. There's a tiny bit of air noise at the vent grates, and just the faintest mechanical noise, as the unit had to go on the roof.

Smile Nice Work

Wow, I'm really impressed with some of those details you got there. The ceiling tiles with lights, the folding bed but even the in wall patch bay is well done a neat looking.
Thanks for sharing !
