Hello guys,
Windows 7 is a stable platform, however, before you make the move make sure you are able to obtain updated (or any) drivers for your gear form manufacturers. Second thing is to understand that there is very few instances so far that will show the potential performance boost that x64 could offer. You can use more RAM then 4GB, your DAW software needs to have 64 bit support as well. If software developers and manufacturers would catch up with the 64 bit processing and include new SSE instructions than it would produce some impressive results. Right now it looks like it's more hassle than it's worth to sacrifice stability for a very little performance boost. Would you even notice the performance increase? I bet you have plenty of headroom in your system as it is (unless you are running some old system). But I'd say that next year it will be a different story and we all will be running x64 and not even notice. Just my opinion Have a great day!

The other issue is stability and what may be a stable combination of elements can easily be thrown off in this early stage of the 64-Bit game by the addition of another component, plugin, driver, etc.. I say to use this time to plan what you want your 64 Bit system to be and just be patient. Wait for the level of 64-Bit support to meet what your needs are with some room for flexibility.
