Hardware Emulation Plug-Ins

What is your favorite piece of vintage gear that has not yet been made into a plug-in? What are some plug-ins that you believe don't quite live up to the hardware version?

Cheers,
Nicholas

While I really like the time based effects that many guitar amp/effect simulators offer, I am still let down by the lack of solid distortion they feature (that is of course my opinion). Then again, when running a PRS with original Dragon Pick ups into a Marshall JCM 900 SLX with boutique overdrives in front - it is hard to beat that.

There really aren't any vintage boxes I am wanting in a plug-in format. Most of the ones that come to mind are already done.

Looking forward to what others have to say on this subject.

While I too am unable to get that beautiful, saturated distortion out of a plugin, (comparing them to a mic'd up guitar amp), amp simulators DO provide a large, wide array of sounds, that give us a versatile tone selection!
I think that the differences between amp simulators and mic'd up cabs are more noticeable during the solo track vs them in a mix.
With that being said, I am still micing up the amp and using a unit like the Digitech GNX3000 (or individual pedals) for tone selection.
